The Evening News says the campaign for the Presidency and the House of Legislature is at its crucial bend towards the last lap and already, some of the parties have started losing out.
The NPP, according to the paper, on Tuesday suffered its first casualty when Alhaji Abubakar Shaibu Malba, the party’s aspiring MP for Chereponi made a dramatic exit from the race together with Mr Baba Imoro of the PNC who was representing his party at the Odododiodio constituency. Both men are said to have announced their resignations in a Press conference at the headquarters of their newfound party, the NDC, flanked by party executives.
The defection robs the NPP and the PNC of an opportunity to win the seats in the two constituencies, since they cannot make any replacement now.
Alhaji Malba said he made a big political mistake in joining the NPP, which he said, has tribalistic tendencies that does not augur well for the country’s future.
Mr Moro said his decision to quit the PNC is based on the fact that he and other party members have been deceived in the past under the guise that the PNC is an Nkrumaist party, however, it is the NDC that has such proven representation.
