NPP infighting: Ocquaye’s Committee acted in bad faith – Dan Botwe

A former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Dan Botwe, has said the Legal and Constitutional Committee of the party acted in bad faith with its recommendation that some dismissed officers of the party must be reinstated.

According to him, it is improper for the committee to have investigated the matter when it had not been referred to them by the national executives.

In a legal opinion of the Ocquaye-chaired Committee regarding the legality of a directive by the party’s Chairman and General Secretary ordering the Directors of Communication and Finance to go on compulsory leave, the Committee described the action as “improper” and an “anomaly” and thus called for the reinstatement of the two officers.

But the Okere MP told Adom FM, the legal committee erred in its procedures in taking the matter up.

“I am unable to understand why a committee under the party structure will investigate a matter and come out with recommendations when it has not been referred to them by the national headquarters.

“That is not how things are done in our party. Why does it appear they were in a rush to investigate the matter? We must go according to our laws,” Botwe stated.
