NPP Goes To Court Over Election Results

Sunyani, Dec. 23, JoyOnline –The Brong Ahafo Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) says it is still considering going to court over the EC?s recollation results of the Pru constituency.

The NDC?s petition to the EC over the declaration of president Kufour and the NPP candidate as winners in the constituency called for the recollation of the results which turned out that, the NDC rather won the elections in the constituency.

The NPP had earlier on petitioned EC against recollating the results from the Pru constituency, threatening to go court if the EC goes ahead.

The EC, however, conducted the recollation the results on Tuesday and declared the NDC?s parliamentary and presidential candidates as winners.

In a reaction, Brong Ahafo regional vice chairman of the NPP, Anthony Kusi, told Joy News that the EC denied them the opportunity of a recount when they demanded that in the case of the Techiman North and Asunafo South constituencies, and therefore questioned the justification for the recollation.

Mr. Kusi however noted that, the Brong Ahafo NPP will not be going to court just over the recollation but on other electoral malpractice experienced in the constituency.
