Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov. 27, GNA- A Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Yaw Agyemang-Manu has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could confidently ask Ghanaians to renew its mandate for the next four years, taking into account the giant strides it had made to improve the lives of the people. Mr Agyemang-Manu said the only means by which Ghanaians could reciprocate the performance of President J A Kufuor and his government was to vote massively for it. Touching on finance, the Deputy Minister explained that Ghana’s foreign reserves as at January 2001 under the previous government could take the nation for only eight days, while the reserves under the NPP for just four years could last for at least four months. Mr Agyemang-Manu was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa after he had participated in the commissioning of two school projects valued at 660 million cedis for Asikasu and Masu Local Primary Schools near Dormaa Ahenkro. He emphasized that the economy had made tremendous gains with cocoa production reaching record levels and inflation, dropping steadily. The Deputy Minister announced that government’s policy on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was on course and that Ghanaians would soon begin to realize the full benefits of their shared responsibility. He expressed the hope that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would win the December polls.
