The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has observed that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not expected to fulfil all the promises it made ahead of last year’s elections within six months.
According to him, it is impossible for all the promise to be fulfilled, however, Ghanaians expect to see signs of the fulfilment of those promises.
The NPP, among other things, promised to establish a factory in each of the 216 districts across the country, Free Senior High School, One million cedis per constituency each year, a dam in each village in Northern Ghana, restoration of the teacher training allowances, the set-up of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and the creation of additional regions.
Speaking in connection with the NPP’s ability to fulfil all these promises on TV3’s New Day on Monday June 12, Mr Adams said: “They defended the 110 ministers of state and told Ghanaians the number was required to fix the economy when we told them the burden that will bring on the national purse.
“We are not expecting them to fulfil all their campaign promises in six months, but we expect to see some improvements. You don’t give birth to a child and after six months you expect him to walk. You must at least see the child trying to crawl, later crawl and then begin walking.
“In the case of the NPP, the fundamental and basic things we can use to predict that things are going to happen are glaring.”
