NPP bans Communicators

Members of the communication team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) across the country have been banned from openly campaigning for the party’s presidential hopefuls.

Kwabena Agyapong, NPP General Secretary, stated emphatically that any NPP communication team member who would flout the directive would be dealt with according to the party’s laws.

He admonished the NPP communication team members to preach about the party’s positive plans and policies to develop Ghana when they get the chance to go on radio, and stop campaigning for individual aspirants.

Mr. Agyapong said the new rule applies to NPP Members of Parliament (MPs), as well as national, regional and constituency executives, stating that it was not proper for these aforementioned categories of people to campaign for aspirants.

He said despite a stern order to the aforementioned people not to openly campaign for the presidential candidates, some blatantly flouted the rule by campaigning for their favourite candidates.

The NPP scribe said on Nhyira Fm that the party had decided to crack the whip on any member that would blatantly flout the party’s rules, noting that the party’s members ought to conduct themselves in a manner that would promote peace in the party.

According to him the NPP stood the best chance to unseat the NDC government in 2016, but the party could only realise its cherished dream only if the party members were united as one family.

Mr. Agyapong warned that if members of the communication team decided to campaign for their favourite candidates, it could generate animosity among the party members which could end up thwarting the party’s agenda of winning the 2016 polls.

He announced that the NPP would inaugurate its various committees, including the disciplinary committee on Tuesday, adding that the disciplinary committee would crack the whip on any member who flouted the party’s rules.

Mr. Agyapong said the NPP as a political party had rules and regulations about how the party’s members should behave, stating that such laws in the party would be enforced to the letter.
