NPP affirms Hammond candidature

Adansi-Asokwa (Ash), Aug 22, GNA – The National Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday affirmed that Mr K.T. Hammond, the Deputy Minister of Energy, is the Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Adansi-Asokwa Constituency.

Mr Dan Botwe, the General Secretary of NPP, announced this after the Constituency Electoral College endorsed the candidature of Mr Hammond by popular acclamation at the Party’s conference at Adansi-Asokwa.

He commended the leadership and members of the Adansi-Asokwa NPP for their sense of unity and urged them to work harder so that the Party could win the New Edubiase seat, which the NDC has won since 1992. Mr Botwe also asked them not to be complacent even though Ashanti region was their stronghold since the party’s aim was to maximise votes in the region.

He said: “We are going to maximise votes in Ashanti and we are giving you Adansi-Asokwa constituency higher targets to achieve”. The Constituency chairman, Mr Kwabena Ameyaw praised Mr Hammond for his contribution to the development of the area.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mr Sam Cudjoe, urged party members to propagate the good works of the Government within the relatively short period it came to power in order to win more members including those in the opposition for NPP.

He advised them against hatred, infighting and acrimony within stressing, “let us fight to move the party forward.

Mr Hammond asked the people not to allow themselves to be deceived by anybody and said the NPP Government had executed numerous projects to improve the standard of living of the people in the area.
