Kwesi Pratt, Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has called on Ghanaians to be tolerant of one another’s religious beliefs.
According to him, every Ghanaian has freedom of association and by virtue of this freedom, can join any religious group of their choice.
He noted on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” programme that one can decide not to believe in God or go to church and there should be nothing wrong.
Kwesi Pratt was commenting on the recent controversies surrounding the visit of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako to the Talensi constituency ahead of the by-elections on July 7, 2015.
As part of tradition, the NPP Regional Chairman and his entourage were made to go topless before interacting with the elders of the town.
This has been seen as occultic since some news outlets report.
But to Kwesi Pratt, no religion in the nation should be undermined. “If you’re in the world and don’t believe in God and won’t go to church; it’s not a sin. In the same manner, you can choose to go to Musama Disco Christo Church. It’s your duty…We shouldn’t discriminate about whose religion is correct and whose religion is wrong.”
He, therefore, condemned any publication that seeks to discriminate against religions.
