Kpando, July I, GNA – Mr Ken Stephen Anku, Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, was last Sunday elected as parliamentary candidate of the North Dayi Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He polled 84 votes to beat Ms Akua Sena Apaw-Bri, a social worker and Mr Dominic Peter Krampah, an entrepreneur, who polled 19 and eight votes respectively in an election supervised by officials of Electoral Commission.
Mr Anku thanked the delegates and appealed to party members to tout the achievements of the Kufuor Administration. Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Transportation, said the government’s policy to construct 15 kilometres of roads in each district of the country had started.
He said the third phase of the Kpando/Worawora/Dambai road network would soon be inaugurated.
Dr Anane said government’s prudent policies, programmes and projects, which are unparalleled in the country’s history, had brought hope to the people and that the NPP was poised to retain power. Mr Johnson Avuletey, Volta Regional Organizer of NPP said victory would only come when supporters sacrificed a little more towards the course of the party.
