The Head of Epidemiology Department and a Senior Research Fellow of Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, (NMIMR), Dr Kojo Kuran has categorically denied that the institute has developed a new vaccine for treating malaria.
Making the denial on Peace FM ?Kokrokoo? Morning Show on Monday, 30th August, 2004, Dr Kojo Kuran explained that, what will be introduced next year is a new treatment and not a new vaccine.
The ?Daily Graphic? in its banner headline today stated that, a new malaria vaccine developed by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research is ready to be tested next year. This statement was attributed to Prof. Bartholome Akanmori, the Head of Immunology Unit of NMIMR in Accra on Friday. This statement has been strongly denied by Dr Kojo Kuran on Peace FM?s ?Kokrokoo? Morning Show on Monday, 30th August, 2004.
