Nkwanta locals block Eastern Corridor road to fix potholes

Residents of Nkwanta North Traditional Area on Monday, 29 August decided to barricade deplorable portions of the Eastern Corridor road that passes through their town to enable them fix potholes on that stretch through communal efforts.

As a result of the road closure, scores of motorists using Nkwanta roads to Yendi and nearby communities have been cut off. The road was closed on the instructions of Nana Konja Tassan VI, a traditional leader who invited hundreds of residents to participate in fixing the road.

Reports indicate that sand trucks in the community are carting sand and stones for the people to use in filling the potholes.

The residents have indicated that until they are done, the road will remain closed to traffic. Additionally, markets and other business centres in the community have been closed to enable residents to take part in the communal labour.
