Nkoranza records increase of HIV/AIDS cases

St Theresa’s Catholic Hospital at Nkoranza recorded 460 cases of HIV/AIDS in the district between the year 2000 and March this year.

Mr Joseph Amponsah, District HIV/AIDS Counselor at the Hospital, said between 2000 and 2002 153 males and 264 Females, tested positive and expressed concern about the fast rate at which the pandemic was spreading in the district, especially among women.

He was addressing an education rally on the dangers of HIV/AIDS, organized by the Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) at Nkoranza at the weekend.

He expressed gratitude to three HIV/AIDS victims from Nkoranza who have volunteered to join the campaign against the spread of the pandemic.
