Nine-year old girl shot dead at Wassa East

An 11-year-old boy is alleged to have shot dead a nine-year old girl at Wassa Ateiku in the Wassa East District of the Western Region.

An eyewitness, Kwasi Brako, told journalists in Takoradi that Danso took his father’s locally-manufactured gun, which was loaded with bullets and shot the deceased, Maa Efia, blowing her head into pieces.

The corpse had since been deposited at the Twifo-Praso Government Hospital’s morgue, pending autopsy.

Meanwhile, the owner of the gun, one Efo Tokpo, a hunter and his son, have been arrested by the police and are assisting in the investigations.

The tragic incident attracted a large crowd to the scene and had thrown the town into a state of mourning.

Police sources confirmed the incident but failed to give details.
