Nigerian Passenger dies on board flight

Accra, April 7, GNA- A Nigerian passenger on board a Bell View airline Flight B255, en route to Lagos from Monrovia was discovered dead when the Airline got to the Kotoka International to pick transit passengers.

The deceased, Mrs Alice Macauley, 49, a Nigerian resident in Liberia was accompanied by her two adult children, Emmanuel Robinson and Lucky Macauley. According to Emmanuel, they were accompanying their sick mother to receive treatment in Nigeria, adding that she had been certified by medical officers in Monrovia as being fit to travel.

He said when they got to Accra, they realised that she has passed away. “My mother was looking well but we were astonished to see her dead when we got to Accra”.

Officials of the airline told journalists that two medical officers who were on board examined Mrs Macauley and declared her dead. They said the deceased has to be placed in a body bag and put in the cargo hold after informing health authorities as well as KIA authorities. The airport officials said they had taken a written undertaken from the children to allow the body to be taken to Lagos since they had no relatives or contacts in Ghana.
