A Kumasi Circuit Court, has sentenced a Nigerian commercial sex worker to five years imprisonment over human trafficking.
Additionally, the court directed that Grace Daniel, 29, should be deported after serving her jail term, and ordered that she compensated each of the four victims with an amount of GH¢200.00.
She had deceived the girls aged between 17 and 20 years, to accompany her to Ghana from Nigeria with a promise of engaging them in her non-existing shop as sales assistants.
She denied the offence, but the court, presided over by Mrs. Janet Animah Marfo, found her guilty after the trial.
Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei said the convict after arriving in the country with the girls, made desperate attempts to convince them to join her in the commercial sex trade, which they would not do.
Angered by their fierce resistance, Grace mercilessly beat up one of them and that proved to be her undoing.
People in her Asokwa neighbourhood tipped off the police and they quickly moved in to arrest her and rescued the victims.
