Nigeria, Ghana to be linked by rail

Nigeria and Ghana have made plans to link their rail systems, according to Nigerian Minister of Integration and Cooperation in Africa, Jerry Gana. The direct link is expected to boost transnational economic activities not just between the two countries but in the West Africa sub-region as well, the Guardian newspaper on Saturday quoted the minister as saying. The plan is a strategic component of a five-point programme to establish a second monetary zone apart from the West African Franc area or CFA zone, Gana said.
