NHIS monitoring control board inaugurated

Ho, April 29, GNA- Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, on Friday inaugurated a 10- member Regional Monitoring Committee of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), with a call on members to help kick-start the scheme in June this year.

The committee comprises representatives from the Regional Health Administration, Regional Co-ordinating Council, Information Services Department and government appointees.

The committee, which will be under the chairmanship of the Regional Minister and coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel Ben Kwaku Atakey (RTD), is to conduct operational audit in the districts to determine the stage of the scheme’s implementation.

It will also evaluate the level of awareness and comprehension of the NHIS concept in the districts, monitor and evaluate the adherence to fraud control systems among other prerequisite formalities for the start of the scheme.

Lt. Col. Atakey pledged the preparedness of members to work hard towards the realisation of the objectives of the scheme.
