NGO to provide support for People With Disablities in Upper East

Bolgatanga, Feb. 3, GNA – Rural Initiatives for Self Empowerment -Ghana(RISE-Ghana), a local NGO is implementing a Sports Project in Bolgatanga , Upper East Region aimed at promoting inclusive sports and the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The Project, sponsored by the Australian Government is entitled, “We Know Sports:Persons with Disabilities in Active Sports”.

Mr Awal Ahmed, Project Manager of RISE in a speech at the launching of the Project in Bolgatanga on Friday, said the major target of the project was to build the capacity of PWDs to enable them organize themselves and compete well in sporting activities.

He said at the end of the Project it was expected that PWDs would be able to play and attract gate fees from soccer fans and spectators and the general public to support their activities.
