NGO supports GES to improve study of local languages

As part of efforts aimed at promoting the study of local languages at the basic level, a local NGO, ‘We care for Our Children Foundation,’   last Monday donated text books worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Ga West Municipal Educational Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) The text books which are printed in   Akwapim and Asante Twi, Fante, Ga and Ewe meant for pupils at the Kindergarten level.

Making the donation at the Ga West Municipal Educational Office at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region, the Director of the NGO, Apostle Michael Ankrah pointed out that the gesture was to support the GES policy of using local language to teach KG and primary pupils and also support   poor parents who may not able to buy books for their wards.

Apostle Ankrah noted that his NGO had already made similar donations to some municipalities across the country.

He called on government  and other corporate bodies  to support  the printing  of the books .

Our resources have been dissipated  due to printing  cost and we are calling  on other benevolent  individuals  to come on board  to enable us reach  out to many schools  , he said.

The Ga-West Municipal Director of Education,  received the items  on behalf of the schools and commended the director and staff of the NGO and promised  to put  the books into good use to serve  the purpose  to which  the books were presented.
