NGO donates money for nurses’ accommodation

Wenchi (B/A) Oct 19, GNA – Miss Elly Meulenbrook of Horizon Holland Foundation, an NGO based in the Netherlands has donated 76 million cedis towards the construction of a duplex house for nurses at Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

Miss Meulenbrook, a nurse who worked as a volunteer at the hospital for a year raised the funds in the Netherlands for the project, estimated at more than 140 million cedis.

Mr. B.C.K. Botwe, District Health Service Administrator, who received the donation on behalf of the hospital, announced that Miss Femke Vliedland, also a Dutch volunteer, presented the first instalment of 38 million cedis of the donation to the hospital on behalf of Miss Meulenbrook in July this year.

He said Miss Meulenbrook returned to Ghana to give another 38 million cedis towards the project.

Mr. Botwe announced that Miss Meulenbrook had promised to send a last offer of 34 million cedis by the end of December this year to ensure the successful completion of the project. He thanked both Miss Meulenbrook and the Dutch NGO for the assistance.

Meanwhile, the site for the project has been cleared and 4,000 sandcrete blocks laid for the construction works to begin.
