NGO donates medical equipment to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Hospital

Offinso (Ash), Feb 18, GNA – Alzinez Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in the Netherlands on Saturday donated medical equipment worth about 1.8 billion cedis to the theatre and eye departments of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Hospital at Offinso-Maase.

The items include operating ophthalmic microscope, artery forceps, Plaster of Paris (POP) cutter, and scissors, suction and slit lamp machines.

The Most Reverend Peter Akwasi Sarpong, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, following a request made by authorities of the hospital when the former visited the hospital last year, facilitated the donation. Presenting the items on behalf of the NGO, Mr Gerwin Schaap, a philanthropist, expressed the hope that the gesture would help step up quality health care delivery of the hospital.

He said the NGO was committed to reaching out to people in deprived communities with the view to meeting its social obligations. Mr Christian Abban Sappor, Senior Health Services Administrator of the hospital, who received the items, commended the NGO for living up to expectation and said the items would be put to good use.
