NGO building a library for the Kunsu community

Kunsu (Ash), Feb 27, GNA- The Foundation for Orthopaedics Complex Spine (FOCOS), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has started the construction of a library for the Kunsu community in the Ahafo-Ano South district of Ashanti.

The library would provide reading materials for schools at Kunsu and its environs to raise the standard of education in the area. Mr Michael Mendelow, Managing Director of FOCOS who broke the ground for work to start on the library on Thursday, asked the people to support the project through communal labour so that the project could be completed early.

He said his organisation was prepared to offer further assistance if the people showed commitment to the project.

In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister stressed the need for such facilities to be established in the various communities.

He stressed the importance of a library particularly to the education of children and asked parents to assist their children to use their leisure hours on their books.

The Regional Minister commended the NGO for starting the project and hoped the construction of the library would not be the only project to be provided.
