Accra, Jan. 1, GNA – Christians in Ghana entered the New Year with prayers, singing and dancing in various churches.
At the Ghana Police Church the congregation thanked God for carrying the country through successful elections and prayed for peace, stability and prosperity after which they danced and praised God, with Church’s Gospel Band providing music.
In a sermon the Reverend B.D. Quansah, Chaplain General, asked Ghanaians to be grateful to God for the numerous blessings He had bestowed on the Country making it “an island of peace in the tumultuous West Africa Sub Region”.
He asked Ghanaians to forget about the acrimony that characterised the electioneering campaigns and forge ahead as one people with a common destiny.
The Reverend Dr A.A. Akrong, Associate Minister of the Church, urged Christians to try and forge personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
He condemned the practice whereby some Christians relied on their Pastors to pray for them instead of praying for themselves, saying that phenomenon had led to the Pastors becoming intermediaries between them Jesus Christ.
He warned Christians against the wiles of Pastors, who have been making false claims in the media in order to attract more people to their churches.
