New Upper East Regional Minister Assumes Duty

Bolgatanga, Feb 07, GNA – Mr Boniface Gambila, the new Upper East Regional Minister, arrived in Bolgatanga on Sunday to a rousing welcome.

A procession of regional executives and supporters of the New Patriotic Party, acting district chief executives, security agencies, heads of departments and scores of people were at Pwalugu to meet the minister who arrived from Tamale by road.

The procession drove into Bolgatanga amidst the toting of car horns and chanting of party slogans.

It ended at the forecourt of the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) where Mr Gambila addressed the crowd.

He urged the people of the region to rally behind his administration to bring development to the area.

Mr. Gambila said “Positive Change Chapter Two” was essential for the Upper East Region that still lagged behind the rest of the country in terms of development.

“We are about to begin a new chapter in our development agenda and I appeal to you all to put your hands on deck,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to party activists and the people of the Upper East Region for the warm welcome accorded him.

Mr Gambila, accompanied by Mr. Mahami Salifu, the former Regional Minister, later paid a courtesy call on Naba Martin Abilba 111, the Bolga Naba.

Mr Salifu thanked the chiefs and people of the region for their support during his four-year-term of office and appealed to them to accord his successor the same co-operation to advance the course of development.
