New uniform for Ghana Police Service

The Ghana police service is to get new uniform to upplement the existing one. The blue camouflage operational uniform designed to accommodate police accoutrements will be ready by December, the Inspector General, Mr Peter Tugala Tinganaba Nafuri announced in Tamale on Tuesday. Mr Nanfuri modelled the new uniform when he presented June 4 medals to police personnel in the Northern Region. He told the recipients of the medals that they are not for decoration, “but symbols of renewal of vow to reform your attitude towards work”.

“You should consider yourselves as working for the people and stop engaging in activities that would undermine the people’s confidence in the police”. He stressed that the police service must remain apolitical and non- partisan in carrying out its statutory duties and this must be demonstrated especially in the run up to the general election on December 7.

The IGP warned that the police administration would not compromise in matters of discipline, adding that any officer who would bring the name of the service into disrepute would be severely dealt with.
