New chief swears oath of allegiance to Asantehene

Kumasi, July 4, GNA- Nana Afrifa Boasa II, a Kumasi-based businessman, has sworn the oath of allegiance to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene as new chief of Amanchia in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.

Known in private life as Mr Kofi Afrifa, he succeeds Nana Asabre Kuffour, who abdicated following a long chieftaincy dispute. Nana Boasa pledged to organise his people and tap resource for the rapid socio-economic development of the area adding that ”It is only by serving as pivot of development that chieftaincy can continue to be relevant.”

The new chief said he would work hard to promote education and promised to ensure that no child of school-going age in the community was denied the right to formal education.

Nana Boaso said: “I believe it is through this that we will be laying a more solid foundation for development”.

Again, since it is unlikely to achieve any meaningful level of progress in an atmosphere of suspicion and mistrust, I am determined to bring my people together to live in total peace and harmony”. Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, the Asokore Mamponghene, advised Nana Boaso to be transparent and diplomatic in dealings with the people so that he could win their confidence, goodwill and co-operation for the development of the area.
