Needy and brilliant students in Dormaa enjoy scholarship

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Feb. 26 GNA- A total of 553 needy and brilliant pupils and students in the Dormaa Traditional Area have since the year 2000, enjoyed scholarship awards worth 91.5 million cedis under the Dormaaman Education Endowment Fund

They comprise 63 pupils in primary schools, 210 students in junior secondary schools, 145 in senior secondary schools and 135 in tertiary institutions.

Mr. Stephen Hayford Baah, Secretary of the Board of the Fund disclosed these in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

The beneficiaries received between 50,000 cedis and 400,000 cedis cash each, he said, adding that the Fund also honoured nine hardworking teachers with television sets, bicycles and sound systems. He commended Osagyefo Oseadeeye Agyeman Badu 11, Omanhene of the Traditional Area, under whose initiative the fund was established. Mr. Baah urged all communities in the area to contribute meaningfully to the fund to help promote education.
