NDC will win elections – Ward Chairman

Agona Nsaba (C/R), March 29, GNA – Mr Thomas Ebo Wilson, Chairman of the Nsaba ward of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Tuesday predicted that the party would win the 2000 parliamentary and presidential elections in the Agona East constituency.

He said the opposition parties do not exist in the area and described the parliamentary seat as a safe one, adding: “rain or shine, the NDC will unseat the opposition parties both in the presidential and parliamentary elections”.

Mr Wilson was speaking at Agona Nsaba in an interview with the GNA during the party’s constituency delegates congress. He acknowledged that Mr Kojo Yankah, MP for the area, who has declared his intention to quit politics, is a “marketable candidate” and appealed to executives of the party to select a similar candidate.

Mr Wilson praised the Agona District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Adu-Yeboah, for his contributions to the development of the District. He pledged that ward executives would work hard to support the candidate selected to contest the election.

The ward Chairman said the fact that the leader of the National Reform Party (NRP) comes from Agona Nsaba would not scare the NDC in the forthcoming election.

Mr Wilson called on members of the party to refrain from using abusive language against their opponents during the campaign to sustain the country’s democracy. He urged unit committee and assembly members to educate the people on the need to co-operate with census enumerators to ensure the success of the exercise.
