NDC Regional Chairmen mourn with Alhaji Zakari’s family

Accra, Nov. 9, GNA – The Regional Chairmen Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday expressed shock about the sudden demise of Alhaji Sumani Zakari, the party’s Northern Regional Chairman, last Sunday November 7.

A statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra signed by Mr Kobina Ade-Coker, Chairman of the Caucus, said most Ghanaians especially NDC Members with tear stained eyes, shocked and in sorrowful mood, are yet to come to terms with the sudden death of Alhaji Zakari. The statement said, “The Regional Chairmen are deeply traumatized and grieved by the sudden death of our brother even though we know he had not been well for sometime now .he was a nice gentleman and one of the longest serving regional chairmen.

“The party and the nation as a whole have lost an illustrious son who would be forever remembered and cherished. The party shall miss his judgment, contribution and above all his sense of wisdom and humour”. The Regional Chairmen expressed their condolences to Alhaji Zakari’s family, saying “we couldn’t imagine your grief at this moment; indeed, the nation has lost somebody for whom the party has the greatest respect and pray that the good Lord will keep him in His bosom.” Alhaji Zakari died last Sunday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra and was flown to Tamale on Monday for burial in accordance with Islamic practice.

Alhaji Zakari, 73, left behind four wives and about 25 children.
