NDC Primaries: EC equipment vandalized at Ejura

Officials of the Electoral Commission at the Ejura Constituency in the Ashanti region had to run for their lives after a mob descended on them, destroying ballot boxes being used for the party’s primaries.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary is likely to be called off in the area following heated disagreements over claims of a bloated register in the constituency.

The number of registered voters given to the EC it is gathered was 7669 but the EC requested for 8050 ballots which is the norm.

Reports gathered, however, suggests that a total of 13, 136 were supplied an excess of 5465 ballot papers.

Supporters of one of the aspirants claimed the number of voters were far less than what was contained on the register accusing the EC officials of conniving with the DCE of the area to rig the election.

They contend that the register is bloated by additional 5465 voters and resisted attempts by official to begin the process.

Meanwhile, supporters of Parliamentary aspirants for Suame Constituency, Brogya Gyamfi and Francis Dodovi have clashed at one of the polling stations resulting in vandalizing of vehicles of Regional Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
