NDC’s General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has called on the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice to remain resolute in prosecuting corruption cases, emphasizing the need for thorough and unbiased legal proceedings.
“Continue to be firm with your team in the prosecution of individuals before the courts for alleged corruption-related offenses to get a favorable conviction to serve as a deterrent to others,” he urged.
Speaking at the NDC Lawyers Conference in Kumasi, Kwetey warned against attempts by some party members to interfere with the legal process, stating, “We at the party level are picking up signals that some people among us are trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted.”
He cautioned these individuals to desist, saying, “Some already know themselves, and we are hearing their names as well, so they should think again.”
Kwetey emphasized that the party’s victory in the 2024 election was largely due to the public’s desire for accountability and transparency.
The NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, commended the lawyers for their significant contributions to the party’s electoral success and encouraged them to continue monitoring state institutions and providing constructive criticism.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, highlighted the importance of the NDC Lawyers’ role in rebuilding the state on the foundations of integrity, constitutionalism, and competence.
“NDC Lawyers must serve as both the conscience and architects of this process,” he said, adding that they should help design systems that promote transparency, accountability, and fairness.
