NDC is on course to regain power – Alhaji Mohammed

Kumasi, Jan. 22, GNA – Alhaji Sani Mohammed, Ashanti Regional First Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic congress (NDC), has cautioned activists of the party to bury their differences and rally solidly behind Professor John Evans Atta-Mills, presidential candidate-elect to enable him to chalk a landslide victory in the 2008 general election.

He said it was about time that well-meaning supporters of the party put away their parochial interest and resolved to support Professor Atta-Mills in his endeavours since he was the best alternative presidential candidate capable of leading the country out of its present socio-economic predicament.

Alhaji Mohammed was speaking at the inauguration of the Mubarick Movement, a pro-NDC youth club with Mr Suleimana Sheikh as its chairman in Kumasi at the weekend.

He observed that the peaceful and matured manner in which the NDC held its recent delegates’ congress was an indication that the party was on course to winning the 2008 elections.

He said: 93Contrary to speculations and criticisms before the congress, the NDC proved beyond all reasonable doubts that it had put its house in order and was well poised to lead the nation to economic prosperity if given the mandate”.

To this end, Alhaji Mohammed tasked supporters of the party to explore avenues to explain the party’s manifesto to the electorate as it was the panacea to the country’s economic woes. He said members should also do away with practices that thwarted efforts aimed at bringing the party back to power. Alhaji Othman Yahaya, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the zongo caucus of the NDC, entreated youth clubs to be dedicated to ventures that would enhance the total development of the party instead of advancing their personal agenda and interest.

Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarick, Member of Parliament for Asawasi, thanked the leadership of the movement for its decision to name the club after him, stressing that there was the need for them to be development-oriented to boost the membership of the party.
