Wa, Aug 30, GNA – For the first time since 1992, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday held a delegates congress to elect a parliamentary candidate in the Wa Central Constituency that was contested by Mr Rashid Pelpuo, a Development Consultant and Mr Huudu Mogtari, a pharmacist.
Mr Pelpuo polled 159 votes to beat Mr Mogtari who had 86 votes. After the result was declared the two men shook hands and the winner congratulated the winner.
Mr Rashid said democracy was creeping into the NDC and attributed his victory to the choice of the people who he appealed to for support to win the parliamentary elections in December.
He said the NDC would move back to the Castle but cautioned that it would demand a high level of commitment and dedication to recapture political power.
“The struggle is for all NDC members to fight tooth and nail to be returned to power,” he said.
Mr Mogtari pledged to use his campaign team to support Mr Rashid to win the Wa Central Constituency seat.
Mr. M.A. Seidu, the MP, said he would work hard to ensure that NDC retains the seat.
