NDC has no ideology – Konadu

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of the Founder of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry Rawlings, has said the party has no ideology.

“No they don’t have any ideology, I’m sorry,” the former first lady told TV3’s Nana Aba Anamoah in interview aired on Christmas Day.

“The ideology we started with and built the party with is no more there,” Mrs Rawlings who left her husband’s party to join splinter group National Democratic Party (NDP) said.

“Are we a social democratic party? Are we? I don’t think so,” she noted.

The party, on its website, describes itself as a “Social Democratic Party that believes in the equality and the egalitarian treatment of all persons with respect to their social, cultural, educational, political, religious and economic relations in a Multi-party environment.”

It said: “The Founding Father of the party is Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings upon whose vision and leadership the Party was established.”
