NDC gurus praised us for spending less on Ghana@60 – Ameyaw Kyeremeh

The Majority Chief Whip, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Kyereme insists the New Patriotic Party (NPP) spent below budget set by the government for the Ghana at 60 celebrations amidst reports there were lavish spending for the event on the part of the planning committee.

Leaders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have criticized the government for spending too much on the celebration though the ministry of finance claims it spent only GH?5.2 million of the total budgeted figure.

“Initially we budgeted for GH?20 million; however, per the reports from the Deputy Minister of Finance it clearly shows we spent only 25% of the total budget. I can testify that, on the Independence Day, in Accra, a leader of the NDC with myself and Major Derrick Oduro applauded the government while he described Nana Addo as a simple man”. He said.

Adding that the said NDC guru criticized his own government that they would have depleted even more than what the NPP has already spent.

Mr. Kyereme who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East Constituency, while responding to the NDC’s claims that president Nana Addo is spending lavishly on costumes like bow ties, challenged the president’s accusers to come with an accurate amount they believe was spent and stop the unnecessary and frivolous claims.
