NDC Chairman: Angry youth nearly broke my neck

The Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Mr. Yaw Obimpeh has disclosed that he nearly walked home with a broken neck when a group of irate members from the TERMA(Task Force and Motor Riders Association) attacked party executives over the nomination of Mr. Kojo Bonsu, as Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive.

The group mainly made of NDC grass root supporters, accused Mr. Obimpeh and the Regional executives of having been bribed with an amount of GH¢200,000.00 by the nominee to get the post.

Though Mr. Obimpeh informed Okay FM that calm had returned to the area following the intervention of the Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku, he stated that it was clear the group were misled by somebody.

“The mobsters attacked all the executives and one of them hit my neck with a plastic chair. I had nothing to say and I had to take to my heels. We went straight to the Regional Minister and informed him of what they had done. He quickly called their leaders and spoke to them till they understood we hadn’t taken any bribe from Kojo Bonsu,” he said.

Before signing off, Mr. Obimpeh advised all NDC supporters in the Ashanti Region to bear in mind that the party has come a long way and only unity is needed to move them ahead of the other political parties.

He explained that the party could only be disintegrated if members fought each other and protested against every candidate chosen by the president to offer administrative duties.
