NDC calls for investigation into Hajj

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on government to institute criminal investigations into the crisis besetting this year’s Hajj pilgrimage to ascertain the cause of the crisis.

A statement issued by the NDC in Accra on Friday and signed by the Deputy General Secretary, Mr Baba Jamal, said the party’s views with much pain and regret the suffering and dehumanising condition that would be Hajj pilgrims are going through in Ghana.

The statement said that since Hajj was “a government to government” programme, the NDC had expected that government would have monitored the organization of the Hajj diligently, especially when the Hajj Board had about seven million dollars which it collected from the pilgrims to organize the pilgrimage in a peaceful and successful manner. It therefore asked government to act quickly to rescue the situation.
