NDC begins vetting of candidates on Tuesday

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled the commencement of vetting of parliamentary candidates for Tuesday, September 22.

The last round of vetting is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, September 30.

A statement issued by the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said candidates in the Eastern, Upper East, Central and Upper West regions will have their vetting on Tuesday.

Those from the Ashanti, Northern and Western regions will be vetted on Wednesday, September 23 while those from Volta and Greater Accra regions will be vetted on September 29 and September 30 respectively.

The process is expected to be conducted at party’s head office in Accra.

“The process shall be a one-stop shop vetting so that the national, regional, and constituency shall vet simultaneously,” Mr Asiedu Nketia stated.

The party is expected to hold presidential and parliamentary primaries on November 7.

Nominations closed on September 10 for the aspirants except those in Ashanti Region who had up to Thursday, September 17 to file nominations. 106 aspirants had filed in the Region as of closure on Thursday.
