The people of Ablekuma North constituency, in Accra, have been asked to reject Mr. Ras Mubarak, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the seat in the December polls. Alhaji Mohamed Ofori, New Patriotic Party (NPP) second vice chairman of the constituency, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, said Mr. Mubarak was not capable of representing the people and was only employing tricks to win votes.
Alhaji Ofori claimed that Mr. Mubarak has been deceiving the people that he had undertaken development projects in the constituency.
Alhaji Ofori said Mr. Mubarak was “throwing dust into the eyes of the electorate” to win their votes because he could not unseat the NPP aspirant, Mr. Justice Joe Appiah, who was seeking re-election.
Alhaji Oforia appealed to the electorate to vote for Mr. Appiah because he had done a lot for the constituency though he is an opposition Member of Parliament (MP). Alhaji Ofori said the MP had constructed a six-unit classroom block at Odorkor, renovated Odorkor cluster of schools, constructed drains and a bridge at Kwashiebu and distributed 400 dual desks to schools at Kwashieman.
Alhaji Ofori said the MP also paid extra classes fees for final year Junior High School students in the constituency, to help them to perform better at the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
Alhaji Ofori appealed to the electorate to vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP flag bearer, in December 7.
Alhaji Ofori said the abysmal performance of the NDC was clear, and wondered why the party was asking Ghanaians to renew its mandate.
Mr. Mubarak when contacted by GNA denied all the allegations and described them as political propaganda.
