NCCE is broke

The National Commission on Civic Education is broke and might be unable to secure funds to re-run public education towards the district assembly elections.

Information gathered has also revealed that the commission’s entire programs and budgeting, supported largely by the European Union, have been significantly disrupted by the Supreme Court’s order for the EC to re-open nominations.

The Commission has subsequently suspended its educational programs as top officials of the commission meet to revise strategies.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission is yet to put together a new budget to re-organise the entire electoral process.

The Director of Public Affairs of the EC, Christian Owusu Parry told Starr News that the government must find the money to enable the EC run the elections.

“We had hoped that it would not come to this but unfortunately that has become the position of the matter now, and so, if we want the democratic process to begin at the grassroots, then we must find the money to do the district level elections”.
