NCCE holds forum for the political parties.

Juaso(Ash), Sept. 7, GNA – The Asante-Akim South District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a forum for the political parties in the District, at Juaso on the need for a peaceful Election 2004.

The Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) attended the forum.

Mr Bernard Owusu-Ansah, Juaso District Director of NCCE, said it was unfortunate that the political parties blatantly flouted the Code of Conduct they formulated voluntarily, to check activities likely to mar the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He advised Ghanaians to eschew the politics of intimidation, violence, and intolerance, which led to security problems. Representatives of the political parties stressed the need for peaceful co-existence.

The participants also called on the local FM stations to be circumspective in the handling of political issues.
