National Mobilization Programme Trains Mobisquads In Soap Making

Kyebi (Ashanti Region) 9 Dec.,

The Abofour Zonal Secretariat of the National Mobilization Programme (NMP), in conjunction with Lever Brothers (Ghana) Limited, has embarked on a training scheme to teach mobisquads and individuals how to manufacture soap. Already 350 mobisquad groups and individuals in the Abofour Area have benefited from the scheme. Mr.. S.O. Tawiah, project officer of the Abofour Zonal Secretariat of the NMP, announced this at a forum held at Kyebi to introduce the scheme to the people. The scheme, which is intended to benefit about 5,000 mobisquads and individuals in the Abofour area, will be extended to other parts of the Offinso District. Mr.. Tawiah stressed that it is the policy of the ministry of social welfare to assist mobisquads by identifying vital but untapped areas of the economy and help them to venture into those areas. He said the NMP is working closely with various organisations like the international fund for agricultural development to secure Financial Assistance to support small scale enterprises of mobisquads. Mr.. Tawiah advised mobisquads not to be over-zealous about sharing profits from their projects but to put in place a mechanism that would enable them to plough back such profits into the development of their enterprises.
