Nana Addo Denies ‘Pissing’ On Mosque’s Walls

Boakye Agyarko, Campaign Manager of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, has debunked claims that the NPP flagbearer urinated on the wall of a mosque saying the NPP has great respect for the Moslem community in the country and will not do anything so disrespectful.

Mr. Agyarko was reacting to a story on the front page of Tuesday’s edition of the Ghanaian Lens newspaper with the caption: ‘After Desecrating Islam On Eid-ul-Fitr, Akufo Addo Pisses On Moslems…As He Urinates In Public On The Wall Of A Mosque’.

The NPP flagbearer and his entourage is said to have paid a courtesy call on the overlord of Damango, Yagbonwura at his palace last Wednesday.

According to the story, an eye witness to the incident, Rufai Abubakr expressed shock at seeing a man of the stature of the NPP flagbearer urinating in public on the wall of a Mosque at Damango adding that after the act, the NPP flagbearer did not wash his hands and started shaking hands with dignitaries who were around him.

But speaking in an interview on Okay FM Nana Addo’s Campaign Manager categorically denied the story, adding that the NPP flagbearer never urinated on the wall of a mosque which was close to the paramount chief’s house.

“…there is no mosque close to the paramount chief’s house…the only mosque in the area is about 60 meters away…the person raising the accusation is not only trying to disgrace Nana Akufo Addo but is also trying to bring divisions into the country. Nana Addo was told that it was not good for him to pass by Damango without paying homage to Yagbonwura who also happens to be his close friend and that was the reason why he stopped in Damango…there is no way Nana Addo will walk 60 meters just to urinate….” he said.

Explaining further, he said when the NPP flagbearer had the urge to urinate, they directed him to a nearby public urinal which they had also visited. He admitted that Nana Akufo Addo urinated but said it was not on the wall of a mosque.

“Nana Addo did indeed urinate but it was not on the wall of a mosque…the newspaper needed to find the truth of the matter before publishing the story. The NDC propaganda newspapers should stop spewing out lies…ordinary Ghanaians are suffering with hikes in utility bills and high cost of food prices under the watch of the Mills-led administration…if they don’t have anything to say, they should keep quiet…,” he added.
