NADMO calls for regular desilting of gutters

The Abura–Asebu–Kwamankese District NADMO Coordinator, Mr. John Eric Awuah has called for cleaning exercise and desilting of gutters be done regularly in flood prone communities in the district.

His call follows the destruction of properties worth Gh?1, 700 at the Moree Methodist Junior High School due to heavy downpour last Wednesday June 3, 2015.

According to Mr. Awuah, the flood also destroyed teaching and learning materials in some schools within the District.

In an interview with journalists, after a visit to the affected schools the District NADMO Coordinator called for the demolition of dilapidated buildings in the communities.

He added that, “these buildings are death traps which are dangerous to human lives, so there is the need to destroy them”.

Residents in Moree, Mpeseduadze, Asebu Asuansi and Abakrampa communities identified as flood prone have therefore been advised to take precautionary measures to avert further loss of properties to flood.

Relief items were distributed to the affected schools and communities.
