Accra, May 10, GNA – The First Lady, Ernestina Naadu Mills and Mrs Lordina Mahama, wife of the Vice President, have sent a Mothers’ Day congratulatory message to all mothers across the country, lauding them for their love and commitment to the development of their children. A message signed by Mrs. Mahama on behalf of the First and Second Ladies, on the occasion of Mothers’ Day which falls on Sunday, said “the Day provides us all with an opportunity to thank our mothers for their selflessness and sacrifices.
“Mothers’ Day is the best time to say in words and deed how much we love and care for our mothers.”
It emphasized the need for the enhancement of, especially the country’s health delivery system as part of the general strategies to reduce maternal and infant mortality. “We take this opportunity to assure the women of Ghana and the entire country of our personal commitment to help improve the lot of, especially our women in conformity wi th the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
The First and Second Ladies also urged, especially working mothers not to abandon their long cherished role of providing care for the family at all times despite the challenges that today confront career women. 10 May 09
