My own party wants to kill me – Mike Ampong

The Greater Accra Communications Director of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mike Ampong, claims his own party has planned to assassinate him.

He alleges that his mobile phone has been flooded with threatening text messages and has therefore reported to the national officer of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for protection.

Mr. Ampong alleged while speaking to Radio XYZ’s Strict Proof program that those after his life are “members of the NPP”.

He said they are “top top members of the party”.

According to him, his alleged assailants have held various meetings in Accra and planned to harm him over his recent comments concerning the raging debate in the party over who leads them to the 2016 election.

Mr. Ampong said the attacks started against him after he told XYZ News in an interview recently that the party ought to focus on re-organising rather than clamouring over who becomes the flagbearer ahead of the 2016 elections.
