Murtala loses Nanton seat

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Nanton, Alhaji Hardi Tuferu has toppled National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament for Nanton Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in Wednesday’s parliamentary polls.

Certified results from Wednesday’s polls show the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the area, Alhaji Hardi Tuferu polling 11,346 votes as against Murtala’s 10,451 votes of the total votes cast.

This confirms the seat for Alhaji Hardi Tuferu who has truncated Murtala’s second term bid to represent the Nanton constituents in the next Parliament.

The Member of Parliament elect, Alhaji Hardi Tuferu is an internal auditor by profession and contested the seat as a fresher.
