Murder suspect remanded

Hohoe, Aug 15, GNA – Daniel Kumassah, mechanic apprentice, has been remanded in prison custody by a Hohoe Circuit Court for allegedly murdering Mr Emmanuel Bedzrah, 70-year-old driver, at By-Plan, a suburb of Hohoe.

Kumassah, whose plea was not taken, would go back to court on August 29.

Detective Chief Inspector, Mr Samuel Gbedemah, told the court that Mr Bedzra was stabbed to death on July 24, when he intervened in a fight between Kumassah and his sister Felicia Ketorwu.

He said Mr Bedzrah who lived in the same area with the accused and her sister was attracted by the cry and shouts for help from Felicia. Mr Gbedema said Mr Bedzrah succeeded in separating the two but Kumassah entered his room and came out wielding a dagger and stabbed the late Mr Bedzrah in the left ribs.

He said Mr Bedzrah was pronounced dead on reaching the Hohoe Municipal Hospital.

Mr Gbedemah said the children of the deceased arrested Kumassah and handed him over to the police.

Kumassah in his cautioned statement denied stabbing the deceased but gave him a blow.
