MP spends 350 million cedis on education

Kumasi, Nov.8, GNA – Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia Constituency, said he has spent about 350 million cedis of his share of the MP’s common fund on education in the area.

He also said about 800 million cedis from the fund and other sources had been spent on the provision of social amenities and socio-economic development of the people in Manhyia.

Dr Addo-Kufuor was speaking at the Meet-Your Parliamentarians programme, organised by the Youth In Action for Development (YIAD) and sponsored by the Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) for aspiring parliamentarians in the Ashanti Region at the weekend in Kumasi.

He appealed to the electorate to vote massively for the NPP in the 2004 Election to enable the Party to continue with the good work it had started.

Dr Addo-Kufuor said the country’s ability to reach the HIPC completion point, was a clear manifestation of the government’s commitment to accountability, transparency and the rule of law. 8 Nov 04
