MP builds store and hostel for Effutu Municipal Hospital

The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr. Alex Afenyo-Markin, has said it was about time his constituents put aside partisan politics in the interest of the development of the area.

He said the government was making efforts at developing the area and it did not matter if one belongs to either party “A” or “B” adding that it was important for all to work together to supplement what the government was doing.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin said this when he handed over a new store and mothers’ hostel he financed to the Effutu Municipal Hospital.

On October 28 last year, fire destroyed the Hospital’s General Stores and part of the Pharmacy as well as Mothers’ Hostel that was initiated by a former Assemblyman for Dwamba Electoral Area, Mr. Yakubu Barry.

The Hostel was for mothers whose children are on admission.

“The nation has become polarized and for that reason due to political sentiment we cannot move forward as a nation to develop,” he said.

He said he had been supporting the Hospital and had given scholarships to some nurses to pursue specialist courses such as midwifery.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin commended the Municipal Chief Executive Nii Ephraim and for that matter the assembly for their tremendous efforts towards the development of the area and pledged his continuous support.

He also congratulated Mr. Barry for his foresight to start the construction of the hostel.

Nii Ephraim MCE expressed his appreciation to the MP and appealed to others to follow his example.

Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of Effutu Traditional Area, thanked the MP for coming to the aid of the Hospital and hoped he will continue to assist in the development of the area.
